Berkel Supernatural Weekend
Gert Hijkoop tells us what happened when over 100 people gathered in the Netherlands for a ‘Supernatural’ weekend with Grantley and Floss Watkins at the beginning of April. (English text follows the Dutch.)
Met groot verlangen en hoge verwachtingen kwamen we vrijdag 5 april met meer dan 100 mensen uit Nederland, het VK en België bij elkaar voor de start van het Berkel Supernatuurlijk weekend.
We werden niet teleurgesteld. Het weekend kwam direct op snelheid in een krachtige tijd van aanbidding. God verwelkomde ons persoonlijk in het huis van de Vader. En de Heilige Geest ging de rijen door, het ministry team gebruikend om te zegenen, aan te raken en tot het hart te spreken van de aanwezigen.
Na een korte inleiding deelde Grantley een krachtig profetisch beeld voor de Relational Mission kerken in Nederland. Grantley zag ons als een rugby scrum, waarbij elke kerk een speler in de scrum was. De spelers waren allemaal verschillend, maar krachtig verbonden en verenigd met de andere spelers in de scrum. Als we als kerken in Nederland zo dichter bij elkaar komen in eenheid en liefde, zullen we de vijand terugdrijven en een explosie zien van kerkplantingen in Nederland. Zoals het beeld van een scrum wat ongewoon is voor de Nederlandse context, zo zal onze ervaring ook anders zijn dan wat we gewend zijn.
Verder onderwijs moest wachten tot de volgende dag.
Op zaterdagmorgen volgde belangrijk onderwijs over een apostolisch fundament voor tekenen en wonderen en het belang van de doop in de Geest voor elke gelovige, om kracht te ontvangen voor een supernatuurlijke levensstijl. Dit alles werd versterkt met verhalen die geloof bouwden en het onderwijs bevestigden.
Met grote eerlijkheid deelden Grantley en Floss hun eigen ervaring met teleurstelling, en maakten ze de pijnlijke realiteit bespreekbaar van mensen die niet genezen worden en sterven, en ons in de war en in de put achterlaten. Ze lieten het niet daarbij, maar deelden ook de lessen die zij hierin hebben geleerd en hoe we op een goede manier met teleurstellingen om kunnen gaan.
Na een heerlijke Chinese maaltijd, volgde de spelavond voor jong en oud in teams die nog genoeg energie hadden om het op te nemen tegen elkaar.
Zondagmorgen vulde de zaal zich met 200 aanwezigen. Na opnieuw een tijd van krachtige lofprijzing, daagden Grantley en Floss ons uit en gaven zij onderwijs over hoe wij onze kerken kunnen opbouwen tot gemeenschappen vol geloof.
Bijzonder nieuws was de aankondiging van de School voor Supernatuurlijk Leven, die in september 2019 in Nederland zal starten. De School zal voortbouwen op het fundament dat dit weekend is gelegd, en deelnemers verder trainen in een supernatuurlijke levensstijl en ons helpen om kerken vol van geloof te bouwen.
With great desire and anticipation we gathered with more than 100 people from the Netherlands, the UK and Belgium on Friday 5 April for the start of the Berkel Supernatural weekend.
We were not disappointed. The weekend made a steep takeoff in powerful worship. God welcomed us personally in the Father’s house. And the Holy Spirit went through the rows, using the ministry team to bless, touch and speak to the hearts of those present.
After a short introduction Grantley shared a powerful prophetic picture for the Relational Mission churches in the Netherlands. Grantley saw us as a rugby scrum, with each church being a player in the scrum. All players are different, but strongly connected and united with the other players in the scrum. As we come closer together as churches in the Netherlands in love and unity, we will push back the enemy and see an explosion of church planting in our country. As the picture of a scrum is quite unfamiliar for the Dutch, our experience will also be different from what we are familiar with.
Teaching had to wait to the next day.
Saturday morning followed with important teaching on an apostolic foundation for signs and wonders and the importance of the baptism in the Spirit for each believer to empower for a supernatural lifestyle. This all strengthened by faith building stories that validated the teaching.
Saturday afternoon, Grantley and Floss shared with great honesty their own experience with disappointment, addressing the painful reality where people do not get healed but die, which leaves us behind confused and depressed. They did not leave it at that but also shared the lessons learned and the ways to handle disappointments well.
After a nice Chinese dinner, a fun night followed for young and old in teams with enough energy left to compete with each other.
On Sunday morning the hall was full with 200 present. After again a time of strong worship, Grantley and Floss challenged and equipped us to build churches as faith filled communities.
Exciting news was the announcement of the School for Supernatural Life, which will start in the Netherlands in September 2019. The School will further build on the foundation laid in this weekend, further train the participants in a supernatural lifestyle and help us build faith filled churches.
