One year of the Hafenkirche in Ludwigstraße

This October, we celebrated one year in our new building on Ludwigstraße in Frankfurt. And what a remarkable year it's been! In a city where space is limited for many reasons, it's incredible how God provided us with this location.

Preparing the new building: A whole family endeavour!

Transforming Our Space

We've poured our hearts, energy, and love into transforming the new building into a warm and welcoming home for our church.

While the larger space with its practical demands has required everyone's involvement, this shared effort has drawn us closer as a church family. The increased space has also opened the door to new possibilities for outreach, enabling us to engage more effectively with our neighbourhood and extend the church’s reach to those in need.

Community Highlights

A major highlight this year was our summer festival, held on July 6th and 7th. It was a joy to see families from the neighbourhood join in, take advantage of the activities, and get to know us better.

The building also allows us to collaborate and offer a platform for other Christians and churches in the city. For instance, during the October Frankfurt Book Fair, we hosted a Christian book presentation and reading, hoping to reach even more people with the gospel.

Most recently, we celebrated the baptism of two German guys from non-church backgrounds. After exploring Christianity and the church community for some time, they decided to follow Jesus! This was a significant moment and is evidence that God is on the move, changing lives in Frankfurt.

A Warm Welcome

Our family has now spent almost two years in Germany, a journey that began after the loss of my father. From the very beginning, Hafenkirche, (translation: Harbour Church), has welcomed us with such warmth that we do consider the community to be something of a haven.

We are continually inspired and motivated by how people care for one another, and it’s because the environment is so supportive – reflecting the love of Jesus – that we chose to celebrate our daughter’s (Laiana) blessing here.

On a practical note, the bilingual services have also benefited us as a cross-cultural family, making it easier for my husband to integrate into German culture.

Connecting with the Broader Community

The More Together weekend we spent with the other German Relational Mission churches was an excellent experience for us as a young family. We connected, met new people, and heard what God was doing in other churches. It reminded us of how important it is to encourage each other and share life together.

We are filled with excitement about what God has in store for us as a family and as a church community. May the adventure of living with God continue!
